I saw “Atonement” awhile back and was pleased to hear it’s been nominated for several Oscars. Even the trailer-like commercial revealed it to be a sweeping epic with rousing music and beautiful images. But the latest commercial I caught the other day had a more contemporary tone, with Timbaland’s “Apologize” playing in the background. A bit anachronistic, no?
Anyway, the film’s lighting alone makes it worth seeing. Sunlight kisses the characters’ dresses, and the beach scene at Dunkirk during the war looks almost romantic given the sunset. I would like to be that well lit every day.
