Thank you

Thank you, to the House of Representatives for approving the health care plan that will ensure all Americans have health care. Finally.

How could Republicans—how could anyone really—oppose a bill that prevents insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions?

Or from dropping you when you find out you’re sick.

Or from capping your coverage when your illness gets too pricey.

Or who must now cover children under their parents’ plan until the age of 26, which is handy considering graduates aren’t facing the best job market.

Oh, and it insures the 32 million people living without health care. Until now, if you were uninsured and landed in the hospital, you might have come home to a whopping bill, having to decide between paying your mortgage or the bill. In fact, almost 50% of foreclosures are attributed, in part, to high medical bills.

Fearmongers yelling about socialism could have turned to Massachusetts for reassurance where we took care of this awhile ago.

  1. Here in Sweden we have absolute and universal healthcare and not one person has been foreclosed because they couldn’t pay their medical bills. Not a single one out of ten million.

And yet all the large corporations are here doing business so our “socialism” hasn’t scared them away.
